Hello, my name is Maria Barabash and I want to share with you my dream for the past 11 years ~ my dream is to find a cure and put an end to childhood cancer. In memory of my brother Mark, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission. When I was 5 years old, I lost my best friend/little brother to Leukemia. It has been 11 years since then. I strongly remember the pain and tears he went through during his treatment. And even though he was a strong little boy, the disease took his life before he was able to experience it. Seeing the pain that he went through as well as the pain that it brought my parents when we lost him, prompted me to want to find a cure. A better way for children to be treated from these horrible diseases, so that they could live their life and grow up to experience it. My campaign will provide support to the critical work of LLS in hopes that one day no one will have to grow up without the ones they love. I know that with your help, I can reach my goal and make a direct impact in the fight against blood cancers. Please join me in my journey of finding a cure for childhood cancer so that one day it can just be a horrible memory. And allow many kids to live the long and healthy life that they are meant to live.
